Singer and songwriter Anacy Rose’s latest single ‘Love Where I Lost It’ is proof that this talented musician is living up to her name.

With the initials A.R.T, Anacy-Rose Tainton was born to be an artiste. And true to her name, Anacy says, “I’ve been singing and dancing ever since I can remember.”

She grew up on the stage as a performer, from musicals to variety concerts, and was among the top 10 students in Dance Studies in matric, then she studied Live Performance at AFDA. Today, she is a radio presenter for MFM 92.6 and hosts the station’s biggest music show, covering everything from alternative and world music to live acoustic sessions with local musicians.

With this experience in the industry and in performing arts, it’s no wonder that Anacy’s third single ‘Love Where I Lost It’ has such a worldly yet down-to-earth feel.

Anacy’s varied musical wheelhouse is evident in the catchy soft guitar riff in the pre-chorus which gives way to an undeniably catchy beat and baseline. But this is not your typical breakup anthem, and the song builds and grows parallel to its lyrics of growth, transformation and acceptance.

“The song is essentially about having the courage and power to leave a toxic situation,” says Anacy. “The single highlights a choice to stop looking for happiness in other people, but rather strive to find it in oneself.”

Anacy’s biggest song-writing influences include Lana Del Rey, Dua Lipa, Lorde, Florence + the Machine, Birdy and Katie Melua. But taking heed of such powerful female singers has inspired a unique sound in Anacy’s voice – one that is completely her own.

This is a musician who knows where she wants to be, and after this teaser, we are looking forward to hearing the EP she has planned for the end of the year.
